Diagnosis and Therapeutic Management of Canine Pyoderma in and around Kolkata, West Bengal, India

Canine pyoderma is one of the most common causes dermatitis with worldwide occurrence in small animal practice. The condition diagnosed on basis clinical manifestations, isolation and identification causative organisms by bacteriological cultural examination. A study 150 cases was conducted at Belgachia Veterinary Clinics, under Department Clinical Complex, Faculty Animal Sciences, West Bengal University Fishery Kolkata during period from May 2018 to April 2019. In undertaken, culture examination 30 pus swabs resulted for bacterial isolates. Exudates/pus samples were collected subjected isolation, subsequently antibiotic sensitivity testing. Out isolates, 24 isolates gram positive Cocci i.e. Staphylococcus sp. 6 Streptococcus mixed infection. sensitive CIS, 22 CIT AMS, 21 NIT, 18 AK, 13 CIP, 12 AX, 9 CTR, 7 CXM, CZX 2 AMC. infections sp., 4 AK 3 CZX, CIT, AMC, AZM. Thirty numbers treated different drugs which are Enrofloxacin, Miconazole Nitrate, Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Cephalexin, 50% Ceramides, 25% Cholesterol. Treatment continued a minimum three days post recovery.
